Measure 37
Measure 37 was approved by voters in November, 2004 . It required cities, counties and the state of Oregon to waive land use protections or pay the owners to obey the laws.

HRVRC and its members worked to fix Measure 37 through a variety of means:

Public Forums HRVRC held public forums providing opportunities for the public to learn about Measure 37 and its possible impacts on the this community and its agricultural foundation..

Testifying
HRVRC supporters were active in testifying before the Committee on Land Use Fairness in Salem. Testimonials like these were important in helping the legislature comprehend Measure 37's potential impacts on Oregon. Measure 49 was essentially 'born' out of these hearings.

HRVRC is involved in challenging the State of Oregon on its implementation of Measure 37, specifically in issues pertaining to valuation.

Yes on 49
Executive Director Jonathan Graca worked with the Yes on 49 campaign as a field representative for Wasco and Hood River Counties. Here in Hood River County, Measure 49 passed by 65% and all 13 precincts voted yes.

Monitoring
HRVRC monitors all county planning decisions. We continue to actively monitor the county's implementation of Measure 49.

Maps Working with dedicated volunteer Dan Higgins, HRVRC utilized google earth and GIS layers to create maps of Measure 37 claims in Hood River County.
